Second in our series championing Cheltenham business owners, especially female owned, like Make Their Day Flowers! (If you would like to show someone you celebrate them with flowers, we have been working hard on our online shop, adding our extensive selection of bouquets available for same day delivery in Gloucestershire and The Cotswolds.)

This week we are celebrating Hollie, founder of Pixie Stone’s Little Creations. You can read the first post in this lovely series here.

Tell us a little about your Cheltenham business?

Pixie Stone’s Little Creations has been running for 7 and a half years now. I make to order handknitted items ranging from newborn baby gifts through to home interior pieces. One of my biggest sellers at the moment is the pompom hat. Recently I have started selling them in the Charlton Kings cafe Moosh and they have been selling so well. You can also see my items on my fab page and order from there. My favourite thing in the world is to create something to be loved and to make someone smile.

Is there a woman that inspired you to start your business?

I can’t really narrow it down to one but I have definitely been inspired by all the independent women I have met in the handmade world at local craft markets and media sites.

Who is a strong woman that you have looked up to?

I have been lucky to have been bought up with amazing women in my family. Grandparents who I have definitely always looked up to due to their strength and knowledge and also to my Mum. Her love for the creative things in the world has definitely had an impact on me as an adult. Whether that’s pretty bristol blue glass, a beautiful melody, sparkly beads or soft hand dyed yarn.

What message would you give to your younger self, knowing what you do now?

Do not be scared to be yourself!!

What have been your biggest hurdles as a woman in business?

I think the hardest thing about running a business is finding the time. I am a Mum of 2 gorgeous girlies and a ‘wife to be’ so finding time to knit the items or responding to emails/messages is a definite juggling act but I love the opportunity to be creative and meeting like minded people.

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us Hollie, what a lot of talent you have! Find out more on her Facebook page, including details of how to order.
